“Madeleine è il nome della nostra protagonista, che vive lo spettacolo attraverso i suoi ricordi e sogni. Nel suo nome riverberano quelli della madeleine proustiana, e della donna al centro di Vertigo di Hitchcock, che nasconde un mistero dietro l’algida bellezza del suo volto. E poi questo nome suona dolce e triste.” – Claudia Sorace – http://trafo.hu/en-US/madeleine

13 Question Interview with Claudia Sorace (director)
Három fiatal művész, Claudia Sorace rendező, Riccardo Fazi dramaturg, és Massimo Troncanetti díszlettervező 2004-ben hozta létre a Muta Imagot, amely mára az olasz kortárs színház egyik meghatározó társulatává vált. A 2012-es Képek Ideje Fesztiválra Madeleine című előadásukkal érkeznek a Trafóba, március 2-3-án este. Elsőként a rendezőt kérdeztük:

1., Give me three words that immediately come to people’s minds when they think about you or your creations/projects!
Memory, light, sound.
2., What aspirations in your life and your career do you still want to fulfill?
At the end of my life, when I’ll look back, I want to think that I have left something to someone
3., What would you do if you weren’t an artist?
I have no idea, maybe I would travel a lot.
4., What are you proud of in your artistic carrier or in your life?
I’m not totally proud of anything, I feel I could do more
5., Who do you look up to, who is your role model and why?
I haven’t got a specific role model, I think it’s dangerous to have one. I think everyone knows by him/herself, what is the right way and the right thing to do in each moment. What important is to be strongly connected with this inner self and obey to its rules, in order not to make any mistakes.
6., What are you scared of?
The passing of time.
7., What is your earliest memory?
I was in the garden of my nursery school, I was about 5 years old. I was playing with a friend. Her teeth were completely decayed. She told me that her grandmother just passed away, so we had to throw up toward the sky all the yellow small stones that we could find in the garden. When the stones reached the highest position possible, we thought we were in contact with the dead, and we could leave a message to them. She told me that she wanted to speak to her grandmother, and wanted to know if I had the same idea. I realized that nobody close to me died, I just had a great-grandmother who had died. So I tried to introduce myself to her with the help of the yellow stones, and I hoped she was happy to meet me.
8., What was the last great and memorable piece/film/exhibition you saw?
At the entrance of Hangar Bicocca in Milan the towers of Anselm Kiefer.
9., If you took somebody up to your place what would you show him or her?
It depends on the kind of relation I have with this person.
10., Could you tell me a story that means a lot to you about your current production / the production that is coming to the Trafó?
The first day of rehearsals Chiara Caimmi, one of the two performers of the show, was very excited. She started to improvise with the big screens on the stage. She made them oscillate a lot, but she wanted to do more, she started to move within the screens. The stage was very dark as the show is about darkness. So an angle of one screen hit her on the in the cheekbones. She fell on the floor, but fortunately it was not so bad at the end. Now she has a very nice dimple on the left cheek, this way only she can be Madeleine.
11. What are your top 3 favourite music albums?
I never know the titles of the music I listen to.
12. What are your top 3 favourite films?
Atalanta by Jean Vigò, I saw it many years ago, still touching.
13. What are your top 3 favourite books?
History and Arturo’s Island by Elsa Morante; and Trilogy. by Agota Kristof.
